DNNI was established by two senior technologists, with backgrounds in industry market leaders such as Bell Labs, Cisco Systems, Movaz Networks and Redback Networks. The technology has been in development since 1996; the last 16 months has seen DNNI turn these ideas and concepts into customer ready products.

The company has four fulltime employees. All four employees have obtained higher education, including MScs or PhDs, aged between 23 and 45 they have been specializing in high technology industries including various roles in a number of start-up environments. They formed DNNI in March 2003 based on concepts that have been in development since 1996. The objective was to produce a comprehensive intelligence software platform for automated discovery of knowledge within data. Its key features would consist of its ability to be extremely user friendly, offer new levels of intelligence, be completely automated and could be assigned new tasks in a matter of minutes. The objective has been met, and the product is known as Distributed Artificial Neural intelligence (DANI).
